Hold your horses and brace yourself as Natsume and Nyanko sensei will once again recapture our hearts in Natsume’s Book of Friends season 7!

The official website for Natsume’s Book of Friends confirmed it during their 15th-anniversary celebration, alongside streaming a video and a celebration image. The video features a series of montage recapping events from the first to the sixth season of the show. Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 6 ended last 2017 leaving eager fans for a potential continuation.

The story is centered on Natsume Takahashi who has the ability to see spirits or youkai and inherited a mysterious book from his grandmother, Reiko. Natsume previously had no idea about the book containing names of powerful spirits Reiko defeated in the past. Natsume only discovered it in his pursuit to find the truth and became friends with a might youkai Nyanko sensei. Together with his companion Nyanko-sensei, Natsume embarks on a quest to free these spirits from the book and unveil his family’s past.

The staffs for the new season are as follows: Takahiro Omori as chief director, Hideko Ito as the director, Sadayuki Murai as the scriptwriter, Akira Takata as the character designer, and Makoto Yoshimori as the music composer.

The manga of Natsume’s Book of Friends debuted in June 2023. The Natsume Yujin-cho the Moview: Ephemeral Bond premiered in September 2018. Aniplex of America screened the film at the Anime NYC convention in November 2018 and released the film on Blu-ray Disc. Natsume’s Book of Friends: The Stone Waker and the Strange Visitor movie premiered in Japan in January 2021.
